Youngsoo Kim
Seoul National University College of Medicine

Dr. Youngsoo Kim studied chemical engineering (B.S.) and biochemical engineering (M.S.) from Seoul National University and KAIST, South Korea, respectively. He received his PhD in 1992 for doctoral work on X-ray crystallography on plant toxin ricin at the University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A. with Dr. Jon D. Robertus. He worked three years as a post-doctoral associate on crystal structure of Taq DNA polymerase at Yale University, U.S.A. with the 2009 Nobel Laureate Dr. Thomas A. Steitz (1992-1994). After his post-doctoral training, he returned to South Korea and held a faculty position at Yeungnam University six years, while working on structural biology on cephalosporin acylase and Taq DNA polymerase. Since 2002, Dr. Kim has been employed at Seoul National University and holds the current positions of Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Medicine and Seoul
