Educational Grant Information

MSACL's mission is educational advancement in the area of clinical mass spectrometry. The Educational Grant program is intended to advance this directive. Overview

1. Only registration for short course and conference will be awarded.

2. If you have received support 2 or more times you are not eligible for support, unless you are performing a specific service, such as Scientific Committee, Ambassador, etc.

3. Applications that are marginal -- poorly prepared (spelling, syntax, punctuation, formatting error) without objective justification and detail -- will be rejected. Be concise with your application.

4. Make sure you apply to the the correct program – read the requirements carefully. If you don’t qualify – don’t apply.

5. If your grant requires a mentor's support email – make sure they submit the endorsement.

1. Young Investigator Grant

Abstract Submission Required by Nov 13, 2019 -- FOR POSTER OR PODIUM.

This grant is for non-commercial individuals submitting abstracts on clinical mass spectrometry for either oral or poster presentations. Grants are targeted for the support of MD/residents/fellows, PhD students, post-docs, and young faculty members (fewer than 4 years since appointment).

This grant will cover:

  • Short Course Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks), AND/OR
  • Conference Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks).

This grant DOES NOT cover:

2. Trainee Grant

Abstract Submission NOT Required.

This grant is for non-commercial MD/Residents/Fellows, PhD students, Post-docs and young faculty members (fewer than 4 years since appointment) who are in training to direct a clinical Lab and are interested in acquiring a greater understanding of the value of mass spectrometry as a tool for use in the clinical laboratory setting.

This grant will cover:

  • Short Course Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks), AND/OR
  • Conference Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks).

This grant DOES NOT cover:

  • Lodging or Travel.

3. Lab Director Grant

Abstract Submission NOT Required.

This grant is for non-commercial Clinical Lab Directors who are aiming to get a better understanding of what mass spectrometry can do for their lab. The grant is targeted to those Lab Directors who have had minimal mass spec exposure, but all may apply.

This grant will cover:

  • Short Course Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks), AND/OR
  • Conference Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks).

This grant DOES NOT cover:

  • Lodging or Travel.

4. Surgical Pathologist Grant (includes Residents and Fellows in training)

Abstract Submission NOT Required.

This grant is for non-commercial Surgical Pathologists interested in learning how “on-tissue” mass spectrometry-based approaches, such as ambient ionization and MALDI mass spectrometry imaging, can be used to complement and enhance the current pathology toolbox. You will learn how these cutting-edge techniques can not only improve diagnostic power, but also provide insight into metabolic and immunological aspects of disease. By understanding the strengths and limitations of these approaches, the attendee will remain a step ahead of their colleagues as these rapidly advancing approaches enter clinical diagnostics.

Up to 30 slots available.

This grant will cover:

  • Short Course Registration (includes some meals and coffee breaks), AND/OR
